Our Story

We are Biomedical Scientists who met at work in the Pathology Laboratory of the local hospital in Taunton, became friends, and discovered a shared love of making pure, handmade soap. We gradually developed our recipes and essential oil combinations, and in February 2017 our small business ‘Lily and Lynn’ was launched.
We handcraft every batch of soap and shampoo in small batches in our kitchens, by a traditional Cold Process method. This is a technique that has been around for thousands of years.
Cold Process soaps naturally contain glycerine, which is a humectant, drawing moisture from the atmosphere onto your skin and therefore is naturally moisturizing.
All Lily and Lynn products are chemical free, we never use any synthetic ingredients. – our products are completely natural.
We use no artificial fragrance – the essential oils used in our recipes are carefully blended by us, to bring an array of benefits to your skin and uplift your senses.
To provide subtle, natural colour and skin enhancing properties to our soap, we add clays, spices and root extracts.
We also add Vitamin E to all our soaps and shampoos – a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory, it is said to be beneficial at reducing UV damage to the skin.
Our soap is hand cut after 24 hours, before being cured for a minimum of four weeks, to bring you a long-lasting, mild bar of soap – that does not go soggy!
When fully cured, we hand wrap each soap in an eco-friendly recycled cardboard box, before tying with jute string and adding a hand-written tag. Please either recycle or compost these after use.
Our soaps are creamy, moisturising and long-lasting, and come in a range of 15 soap varieties, including one for sensitive skin, an exfoliating bar, and a gardener’s soap, as well as a range of 8 shampoo bars.
‘Lily and Lynn’ is a member of The Guild of Craft Soap and Toiletry Makers.
PS. We are in fact Clare and Lynn -Lynn’s grandmother was called Lily!
